Our fees, explained

We believe financial advice should be simple, transparent, and priced in a way that makes sense – so you know exactly what you’re getting, what it costs, and why it’s worth it. That’s why we charge a fixed fee for our typical financial planning service.

Understanding initial fees

Charges outside of our typical fee structure

For work that falls outside our typical fee structure, we will agree on a fee with you, typically represented by the hourly rate shown below or a combination of our fixed fee plus an hourly rate.

Where hourly fees are payable, these will be based on the time required (based on the complexity of the work). The appropriate charge will reflect the type of work undertaken. We will allocate fees as follows for such work:

Our ongoing services

We can provide ongoing review services designed to maintain and monitor your portfolio and ensure your financial plans remain on track to achieve your goals. Your financial arrangements, including your goals and risk profile, can change over time, and our ongoing review service enables your financial plans to evolve to reflect such changes.

The availability of some services depends on the type of financial plan we implement for you. Our typical fee is 0.65% – 0.80% per annum and is determined by the value of your household’s assets under Betterment Wealth’s management.

**Our fee cap rises in line with the Retail Price Index at the beginning of each tax year.

Expect full transparency, always

We believe in a clear, straightforward approach to fees, so there are never any surprises. In addition to our own fees, there may be other costs and charges related to the financial products we arrange for you.

Additional charges

Depending on the services we provide, there may be costs and charges (including taxes) that are set by third parties, which we’ll always disclose to you. These charges may be one-off and payable upfront or on an ongoing basis.
Service costs

If your investments are held on a platform (an online investment administration service) or managed by a discretionary fund manager (DFM), the platform provider or DFM will charge for administering and/or managing your investments.
Investment costs

These are the costs relating to managing your investments – for example, fees charged by the investment fund manager or costs relating to investment transactions. We will always disclose any third-party costs and charges when making our recommendations.
