We went from uncertainty to feeling genuinely confident about our family’s future.

My name is Alex. I have been a client of Betterment Wealth for around eight or nine years, and I am being looked after by Richard Fern.

I wasn’t sure how best to organise my savings and investments. I had inherited some money from some family members who had sadly passed away, and I wanted to have the best financial advice on how to make the most of that money, both now and in the future, for my own retirement and also for my family.

Richard Fern was recommended to me by a friend of mine at work, and they’d actually been recommended to him through another friend at work.

From the first time that I spoke with Richard, he spent a lot of time listening to what my worries and concerns were, and what my aspirations were for the future. I really appreciated somebody doing more listening than they were talking – making a lot of notes and really listening to what my worries were. He was also very friendly and approachable, and just seemed very professional.

I didn’t really understand what the future might look like, and Richard brought clarity to our current financial situation and what it could look like projecting forward throughout any point in the future. That’s enabled us to look forward to the future and have some comfort, reassurance, and a little bit of predictability about what the future might look like.

The first three traits that come into my head when I think about Richard are probably friendly, confident, and calm.

One of the best things about working with Richard is definitely the ability to pick up the phone or send an email and get that reassurance when you’re actually needing it there and then, not having to wait weeks for an email response. It’s being able to get immediate reassurance and clarity if you’re having a bit of a wobble about anything with your finances.

I suppose the best piece of advice that Richard has given us as a family is not to overly worry about the future in terms of finances. It’s to have a think about what you want for the future, be honest with him about what you want, and have the confidence that together, you’ll be able to plan and make those things happen, but not to overly worry about them.

I would absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend Richard and Betterment Wealth. I genuinely can’t think of anyone better to have as a financial planner, a financial adviser, to help you and your family with your current finances, future plans, and to give you some financial clarity and reassurance; and to be there for you if you’ve got any worries with finances and your financial future.
